I sort of want to have a post listing all the current, ongoing projects. It would look like this:
QUOTE

Project GEARBOX: Current testing of Fossil-Type HOMUNCULI

Project SIGNAL2NOISE: Current testing of Fossil-Type ARIA.

Project TALOS: RESTRICTED TO 8VA PERSONNEL ONLY.

The 8va Personnel would be the "higher ups." It's in reference to an octave where "8va" means "play this an octave higher than written." (And, of course, ties into the whole 5 and 8 being arc numbers.)

My Ongoing Stories:
Channel Fear (informational, educational, cynical)
The Supernatural Anaesthetist (seeing where science takes us)
Once There Was (the king is the kingdom)
An Old Man's Winter Night (at the winter of the world)
Unwashed and Somewhat Slightly Dazed (working for the man)
The Secret History of the World (unstuck in time)
Notes from the Underground (a place to stay)
Phantasmagorical (a bedtime story)
Paranoia: A Manifesto (wrecking the wall)
The Day The Music Died (running from sound and sorrow)
Abraham's Men (knights, ghosts, and shadows)

That's a good idea, but we need to figure out everything first. We need to know what Duchess will be doing (I'm still talking with Jane about that), and we need to know what EAT's name will be. I want to come up with it, and I don't want to reveal it until.. I'd say the climax of the first movement.

After all, EAT's taken over the North branch, so EAT is in the facility and its records. So EAT encounters their list of fossils, and what's it do? It deletes its own entry. Liquid Len and Duchess can't post about a Fossil that's not in their records.

Oh, that sounds pretty cool. They could come across an entry listed as "Fossil-Type UNKNOWN." The entire file would be blank.

I wrote this experiment. I hope it doesn't conflict with anything.

So far, the only Fears I can think of that you can get samples or scrapings of are the Newborn and the Choir. I have some ideas of testing the Convocation (dissecting a Convocation bird or a Nest), but if Doctor Cloud tests the other Fears, he'll have to get out of the lab (or bring in people haunted by those Fears) since they don't really leave stuff behind to test.

There's also EAT, if you count the water.

To be honest, I was first a little disappointed that we had settled on something so tangible as scrapings for The Choir, but then I actually got to thinking about it. The Choir is not a fungus, but merely behaves similarly to one. Though calling it a fungus really gives off an SCP feel in my mind. xD

As I was thinking about what "scrapes of The Choir" could possibly mean on a larger scale, I happened upon Between the Buried and Me's "Lost Perfection's" first movement, Coulrophobia, off of The Silent Circus. I wouldn't suggest listening to the entire song unless you listened to and liked "Fossil Genera," but I would suggest checking out the ambience of the first forty seconds. Now, say this with me: "The Choir's world." Ponder on that as you listen to that ambience.

Then I got to thinking of more music, got to thinking of the story behind Ayreon's Into the Electric Castle, where several figures from history find themselves in an ethereal realm, having to solve several life-threatening challenges in order to merely solve an experiment crafted by a dying alien race. This gave me an idea of The Choir, really on the offensive here (very rare!), creating an entire world that the subject would believe to be "their dimension." And I just thought about what a world like that might look like.

..I'll be honest and say this applies more to where I'm going with Rapture than Genera, but I wanted to see if any of my ideas could indirectly inspire brainstorms from you. Bouncing ideas around, y'know!

The Choir do need a realm, like the Screaming Tower or the Path of Black Leaves. Perhaps this could be it. The Choir's realm. A realm of sound and noise and little else.

...does every Fear get a realm? EAT needs one, too, then! I should get to thinking about that one.

If you want my full interpretation of The Choir's mental maze, you'll have to wait for the Rapture update next year.

...does every Fear get a realm?

Pretty much. Some of them just haven't been introduced. The Convocation has the Bleak Shore, the Blind Man has the Catacombs, the Plague Doctor has the Crumbling Castle, the Smiling Man has the Flower Fields. I'm going to be introducing the Cold Boy's realm, the Winter Court, soon.

The other ones that have appeared somewhat (in the form of Candle Cove entries / Once There Was fables) but not in regular form are the Archangel's realm (which I called the Necropolis) and the Rake's (which is probably the Wilderness of Whispers).

I'm assuming, if I wanted to come up with my own realms for certain Fears, I'd be totally fine as long as I keep it within my own universe.

This makes me want to think of any 'realms' I may have indirectly come up with. Rapture gives us The Judge's uncanny courtroom, Tiresias has the Peisistratos (which was subconsciously based on the TARDIS xD;;;), and the non-Fear Indisen have.. a spoilerriffic place I cannot say. ..OH, and The Harlequin mentioned a place where a tortured Jordan (placed in a wooden body) would be kept for all eternity. It was just an off-hand remark, though.

I like the idea of Fears getting their own little bizarre area where only their own rules apply. I'd love to explore this.

So this test has a lot more stuff blacked out, because the three tests were all done on human subjects. After we reveal the human experimentation at the end of Act 1/Overture, I may actually go back and unblack out some parts (perhaps the first two tests, making the third one more disturbing).

And yes, "VIRIDIAN" is named after the Between the Buried and Me song, while "CRIMSON" comes from King Crimson.

It'd be cooler if "Viridian" was about anything. I found out today that the song is literally just an instrumental that was named because the whole album is called Colors.

Love your post, though.

Okay, I have finally figured out that The Supernatural Anaesthetist will have five acts. It's currently in it's opening act:

Act I: Classical Limits
- posting of reports, tests, autopsies
Act II: Linear Equations
- with the reveal that human experimentation is going on
Act III: Observer Effects
Act IV: Uncertainty Principles
Act V: Degrees of Freedom

And now for a bonus, write out the first letter of each act.
