Bumping this becaaaause I want to post the music behind Harlequin Metropolis.

Metropolis, part 1 (This inspired the first post)
Metropolis, part 2 (This inspired the entire rest of the blog.)

Now, do note that I didn't just take Dream Theater and make a blog out of it. Because "Metropolis, part 1" is literally just a parody song, its lyrics mean nothing and are symbolic for the sake of poking playful fun at prog in general. And Metropolis, part 2... well, I fucking hate Metropolis, part 2. xD I have written more than one essay explaining, in cold hard print, every problem I have with the album. Most of the problems lie in the story, the poorly-written and laughable story.

I took that horrible story with its blank philosophy, blatant religious preaching, and inconsistent viewpoint protagonists, and I rewrote it. I wrote it so that the plot holes worked and so that the only thing it was preaching was fear. Kinda. AND I ACTUALLY FUCKING MADE IT RELEVANT TO "PART 1." >_> I took "Part 1's" loving-parody nature and applied it to the whole story, making it a pretty story that isn't entirely meant to be taken seriously.

But now I'm done ranting about that. Basically, I'm posting those two because, as laughable as the stories are, the music is phenomenal. Plus, you are pretty much literally listening along to the story. Just with.. different settings and names.

My total lack of patience has made me decide to say screw it all, I'm posting an incomplete version of Mephi's playlist. Songs that are too spoilerriffic will be skipped over, and plot details will only be given for songs which cover parts of the story already posted/in progress. I'll probably update this as spoilers are revealed and such. In the meantime, speculate away if you wish. And yes. The blog is only on the third song. Well, the Magia link got taken down by copyright stuff. I went searching for a replacement, and found one with English lyrics.
When I picked Magia as the act 2 theme, it was because I thought the tone matched, and I like making shout outs to things which inspire me.
Yet upon discovering a version of the song I could understand, I realized that it fit uncannily well. To the point where the entire song turns into massive spoilers for Act 2. There is not a single line in the entire song that I cannot connect back to Mephi's plot.
Oh well. Too late to fix things, especially since I can't find an original moonspeak version of the song on youtube. I'll just put the english replacement up.

So, the direction Game, Set, Match is going to go is still not quite set in stone, but I do have some sense of the tone of the thing as it is divided into three parts. If I had to assign a theme to those parts...well...

Part 1: Ain't No Grave - Johnny Cash

Part 2: Sinnerman - Nina Simone

Part 3: Get Happy - Hugh Laurie and Lisa Edelstein

These are all kind of subject to change...but for now, I think they work pretty well.

But All of Kyra's posts( and two or three of Kevin's) were written while listening to One Eyed Doll. So yeah..

In case anyone has ever wanted to "listen to" the first half of Rapture entirely through music that roughly conveys the same feelings, I tried my best to compile a condensed thing here.

Ok, here's Act 1 of the Aliceverse soundtrack (I'm doing the entire verse, as it doesn't work for just one blog):

1.Strawberry Feilds - Alyss starts her blog,aptly named strawberry fields, taking us into her weird life in which she is being stalked by a psychotic killer.
2. Murder, Murder -As The Magnolia Killer begins to take more lives, Alyss begins to worry about her own.
3.Nowhere Man We are introduced to JOKER, an eccentric and listless billionaire who is writing a blog on surviving fears.
4.White Rabbit -Alyss is thrown into a strange realm, and is forced to play a agme in roder to escape.
5.The Trial-Alyss witnesses the trial of THE BLANKQUEEN.
6.Alive -The BLACK JOKER killer is on the lose.
7.Dangerous Game BLACK JOKER begins threatening JOKER, through Sephra.
8.Alive Reprise - BLACK JOKER kills sephra.
9.Lost In The Darknes-JOKER comes to realize that BLACK is a split personality of his, as Sephra is murdered. He quietly waits to be arrested.

I am the world first Moral Absurdist. I noticed that there was not a philosophical term as such, so I coined it. Moral Absurdism: The belief that the concepts of "good" and evil" do not exist, and that morality is a sham, yet deciding to embrace the absurdity of that and hold a moral system anyways. And now I've done the second half of the story. This thematic journey through OH GOD THE RAPTURE IS BURNING comes to a total of around 4 hours. Good god.

Well yes, DJay, The Twelve Days of Christmas is what inspired the blog and its setting in the first place. However, Demons was the song that kept coming back as something that seemed to fit the whole story, tone, and message of the blog in general. So there's two songs for my hypothetical playlist. ^w^
