But you've got the headstone all ready/All carved up and pretty

And as this is, yet another, poem with reference to very uniquely UK 'Veteran's Day' style things....here have some references and background.

"...They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them...." - Also known as Stanza 4 for the Ode of Remembrance.

"...There is some corner of some far off land that is forever England..." - The Soldier, by Rupert Brooke. (I personally hate this poem, but the phrasing holds quite nicely)

Wild Geese is a very archaic term for the Irish 'Volunteers' who served under the British banner through to the 18th cent....however, it has been used in lyrics discussing the Irish involvement in WWI
("...T'was England bade our wild geese fly/so small nations might be free..." -Foggy Dew, written during the Easter Rising in 1916)

I'm probably missing out other references, but those are the ones that stick out as very distinctly UK-centric.

This was a most beautiful post. This entire blog is turning into one of my favourites.

EXHIBITS:
Viceking's Graab (Step inside the maze. You could spend an eternity here.)
The Mythology of Empathy (Eight songs, nine tracks. Welcome death.)
Ancestor (Five tracks. Death of the Artist and Chinese mythology.)
Fear (A visual art exhibit in blog format.)
Nobody anymore, never again (Another visual art exhibit in blog format.)
The Everyblogger Triad: 1, 2, 3 (Embrace the bad writing, give into your psyche.)
PLAN 31 (Frank Slenderman: Ace Attorney)
OH GOD THE RAPTURE IS BURNING (400,000 words. Five months. All Fears. Excess. On fifth draft, not final.)
Topography Genera (15 blogs. Conventional horror. See seas rise.)

...I joke about death/'cause it's funny when you're frightened...

TW: Suicide
As in very much a HUGE warning, especially given how the poem is phrased.

...freedom's just another word for/nothing left to give...

Any similarities to current events are ill timed. (This was written during the week of Armistice/Veteran's Day.)

Don't you know/they've got smart bombs/it's a good thing that our bombs are clever

(This is a poem dedicated to the current British prime minister and his current talks with the French prime minister.)

Shall we dance/on a bright cloud of music shall we dance

(One day, I'll actually get around to collating all of these poems and actually putting them in something resembling a thematic order)
