> Go eat. And eat fast so that we can get inside our new favourite possession EVER.
You eat fast, and practically run to your car. You drive around the school once, when you get there. You can feel the awe and jealous stares of your classmates as you pull into the parking lot.
You don't yet realize how important today is.
You don't yet know how just a few words will change your life forever.
I was in such a rush, you know? I felt like such a grown-up. Mature and responsible. My very own car.
Heh. Seems kind of silly now. How impressed I was with myself. Really, the most impressive thing about that day wasn't the car. It was how much danger I, completely innocently, put myself in.
Chapter One: Hope Valley District 10 High School Parking Lot, 8:04 AM
You pull into the parking lot. You're sitting in your car with a massive grin on your face. You see students all around you arriving at school--driving, taking the bus, walking, etc. The few that recognize you give you jealous stares as you exit the car.
You tend to keep quiet at school. You like to keep your head down and stay out of trouble. This doesn't mean you're always successful, though. You don't get taunted as much as you used to, but you still hear a "wizard of oz" joke every once in a while. And sometimes they call you Heather, as your presence in class mandated a certain children's book be read when you were in grade school and some of the other students will never let you forget it.
You have about ten minutes until school starts. What do you do?
Your school is moderately large, kind of like Hope Valley, the place you live in with your mothers. It's also kind of desolate, just like Hope Valley--your Mom likes to joke that Hope Valley is neither very hopeful, nor a valley.
You enter the School Library.
It's not very big, but it's large enough that you can't see the whole thing from the doorway. The lights are currently off. You don't immediately see anyone inside. Not even the librarian.
