He was probably just baiting you, DJay. (Which is why the entire paragraph was in all caps.)

QUOTE (DJay32 @ Aug 7 2012, 01:11 PM)

One could argue that it'd have even more interconnectivity, as the only way a newcomer would know about Fears would be if they read blogs and understood the Fears. But in all honesty, the more I think about the practicality of taking away the list of Fears, the more I realize it.. isn't that practical.

I'm glad you realize it because the path of this paragraph would lead to continuity lock out.

For the individual Fear pages, I have Fear pages set up on the Weebly site.

We could use those and modify them so that they represent the Fear more, well, vanilla-ish. (I like the "no toppings" analogy.) And we could also include a list of "major" blogs for each Fear - so that if a writer wanted to see several interpretations.

Spoiler: (highlight to see)

AND IF THE WORD "DIMENSION" IS COMMONLY USED AS A SYNONYM FOR "UNIVERSE" TO THE POINT THAT A TERM LIKE "DIMENSIONAL BLEEDING" CAN BECOME SO WIDELY USED WITHOUT WIDESPREAD MISUNDERSTANDINGS, THE THE MEANING HAS CHANGED AND THEREFORE IT IS VALID AND NOT OBFUSCATING AT ALL.

(I was thinking of making an "Evolution of Words" thread in On-Topic, just to show how the meanings of words have changed over the years. And then end it all with "AND THAT'S WHY 'DIMENSIONAL BLEEDING' IS A-OKAY.)

I like the "no-topping" analogy too, sounds like a good way to describe it and work this idea out, best effective way. I approve.

Also I know Lizard's comedy has technically been dropped now but just dropping in to the other topic with a possible suggestion (just a suggestion, not a complaint)

Spoiler: (highlight to see)

"Science fiction texts often mention the concept of dimension, when really referring to parallel universes, alternate universes, or other planes of existence. This usage is derived from the idea that to travel to parallel/alternate universes/planes of existence one must travel in a direction/dimension besides the standard ones. In effect, the other universes/planes are just a small distance away from our own, but the distance is in a fourth (or higher) spatial (or non-spatial) dimension, not the standard ones"

That's from wikipedia, translated we could take that to mean that for the Mythos, Dimensional Bleeding means that in order for these other universes to bleed through, they have to travel through crazy eldritch dimensions to get to us.

Thereby even though it's actally universe bleeding, the term dimensional bleeding still works because they had to bleed through different dimensions to move on a multiversal scale,

How's that? Would that be a better way for us to explain it or does that still lead to the same problem?

That's essentially the explanation I had in mine for it. I don't see anything wrong with that.

That sounds reasonable. My understanding has always been as follows:

Spoiler: (highlight to see)

Other dimensions can refer to either alternate or parallel universes or different planes of existence.

Yeah, I just wanted an opportunity to use that spoiler button.....

I will concede to that.

Now that I'm back on the computer, I'll start working on some of those Fear pages.

..and guys, really, please keep the off-topic stuff to different threads.

EXHIBITS:
Viceking's Graab (Step inside the maze. You could spend an eternity here.)
The Mythology of Empathy (Eight songs, nine tracks. Welcome death.)
Ancestor (Five tracks. Death of the Artist and Chinese mythology.)
Fear (A visual art exhibit in blog format.)
Nobody anymore, never again (Another visual art exhibit in blog format.)
The Everyblogger Triad: 1, 2, 3 (Embrace the bad writing, give into your psyche.)
PLAN 31 (Frank Slenderman: Ace Attorney)
OH GOD THE RAPTURE IS BURNING (400,000 words. Five months. All Fears. Excess. On fifth draft, not final.)
Topography Genera (15 blogs. Conventional horror. See seas rise.)

Sorry, my bad, I should've made another topic, I just figured since it had been mentioned a bit, I'd chip in. I apologise.

But yeah, looking forward to the fear pages and the no-topping vanilla fear ice cream sundaes becoming active now.

I will be posting the drafts of these I work on here so that I can get people's input. I will be going in alphabetical order, based on alliterator's Weebly site.

The Archangel

BIG PICTURE ON THE LEFT (Should it be the one currently on the Weebly Archangel page, or does anyone have any other ideas? Perhaps the picture should be a gallery of popular interpretations, in keeping with the "no single canon" feel?)

QUOTE ON THE RIGHT: Before my eyes, Gas Mask floated down from the heavens to stand before me, and I swear he was smiling under that mask. I looked up to see where he had come from, and I saw nothing. Oh, I felt something. I felt eyes watching me. I felt wings flapping in the skies. I felt a presence, concentrated in the world above, but at the same time lingering all around me. I looked up into that great empty void, and a single thought filled my mind:
"Enemy."

- Eccentrically Bored (Any other ideas for a quote? I love the idea of having a quote, but should it be this one? If not, then what? Or should we possibly do multiple, akin to the gallery of pictures idea?)

(bold is vanilla)
The Archangel is an eldritch concept representing the afterlife, itself. It can appear as anything it wishes, commonly written as the undead. The most common interpretation of The Archangel has it manifest as a figure in a gas mask. Common motifs regarding The Archangel include, but are not limited to: Religion, cults, power, manipulation, chess, and the dead.

The Archangel lends itself to human servant characters due to its religious undertones. Common cults include the Timberwolves and the Saviourwolves.

Then there'd be the section showing notable stories featuring The Archangel. We'd have to vote on these. I want to do that here. Not in a poll, though; this isn't a matter of popularity but instead of notability. We need the stories that gave definitive representations of The Archangel, that covered enough bases to make The Archangel feel like a definitive character. ..though I suppose there will have to be some matter of popularity in there.

I was thinking of Eccentrically Bored, maybe Hidden Triumphant, and I really want to say either Rapture or Topography Genera (though Genera hasn't quite gotten to the Archangel focus yet). Any other suggestions?

And since this one's LizardBite's, if he wants to do development notes on coming up with the Fear, he can. But that'd be a very optional part at the bottom of the page, for hopefully obvious reasons.
